Have any of you heard the term “the closer to your food the better”? What with all the food bacteria/egg scares lately the term is quite true.
I’ve been MIA, blog wise, lately and have been doing a lot of this
Yes-sir-ee I am quite the farmer lately
Shhh, it’s my dad who is really the farmer, I’m more the picker I suppose.
and when the fresh produce runs out this winter we’ll be enjoying some of these
I have to admit I consider it quite the blessing to have such an opportunity.
Have any of you been canning this summer?

I used to be a canner! This year, I've been more of a "freezer".- Such a great feeling to have stuff put away for the winter months, isn't it?
How fun!
I actually didn't can anything this year. (But that's due in part to the fact that I was hyper about canning last year and we still have some left overs...)
I LOVE canning. I wanted to learn how to do peaches this year but didn't get around to it - AGAIN. Next year perhaps?

There is nothing like farm fresh, not in a hot house, foods and being able to have them all year!
I can see where you would run into a problem Carrie, some years there seems to be just so much. I've learned that some food banks are happy to take items and even fresh fruits and veggies. Here I thought they only took cans!
Thanks for stopping by Windy Poplars for a visit. You're right, pesto on a tomato sandwich is Divine! Happy Weekend!

How nice! I cannot wait to be able to have a garden of my own so that I can grow enough to can! Enjoy it!
